BEING old, and of a suspicious mind, I think the current war on diesel car owners is a prelude to a tax hike on these particular motorists.

There is never a mention about pollution caused by trains, buses, ships, trucks, farm machinery, the building trade and the military diesel engine users.

Of course, the little publicised fact that successive Governments have at great expense put thousands of diesel generators all over the the country in anticipation of a power shortage is never mentioned.

Instead of moaning about it, why isn’t either an alternative motive power source developed, or more effort devoted to solving the pollution problem?

If, and I say if, the pollution caused by diesels is as bad as stated, taking into account volcanoes and all other natural phenomena, as well as tyre wear, brake dust and everything else, then many doubters, me as well, will be convinced.
