THE recent contretemps over who pays for renovating a new home for Prince Andrew's daughter Eugenie, and her intended beau Jack Brooksbank, at Kensington Palace appears to have reached a stalemate by all accounts.

The problem arises because the Princess does not want to pay for the repairs. The whole thing is in limbo, but this scenario also reignites the debate about minor royals living in palaces at reduced rents.

On a jocular note, Andrew could point out that certain migrants with large families have been accommodated in 6-8 bedroomed mansions, so why can’t his daughter have a similar understanding out of respect for her royal connection.

I can visualise this debate continuing for some considerable time, neither side willing to give way.

Still pursuing a light-hearted solution, why doesn’t Andrew give Nick Knowles a ring – the job would be accomplished in no time at all!
