I AGREE with John Burns (HAS, Jan 16) about the annoying use of Americanisms in our English language.
My main bugbear is the increased mispronunciation of the word schedule which of course should be pronounced "shed-yul" and not "sked-yul" as it would be in America.
I even heard a news reporter on the television last week using the word "gotten".
