THE term “white supremacy” refers to the belief once known as Germanic racial superiority, which in the 20th Century developed into Nazism. Despite their claims, history shows that the Germanic tribes were the original barbarians, the last European people to become civilized and genetically the true mongrel race of Europe, while the idea of any race being pure is total fantasy.

No one is born racist, homophobic, Islamophobic or anti-Semitic. They become so through ignorance. Racism, delusions of racial and/or religious superiority, isn't unique to any single race, nation, culture or people but it is easily unlearned through education.

A Jones (HAS, Jan 14) reminds us that the white supremacist and mass murderer, Dylan Roof, was mentally ill but fails to mention that mental illness and poor education is a common trait among anti-Semites, homophobes, Islamophobes, racists, racial supremacists, political and religious extremists.

Over the years educational standards have declined on both sides of the Atlantic.

The NHS is being overwhelmed by increasing numbers suffering mental illness. At the same time there are increasing levels of anti-Semitism, homophobia, Islamophobia, those supporting racism, racial supremacy, political and religious extremism. Clearly there’s a link between such individuals, poor education and mental illness.
