THIS week I was one of a few Bridge Street, Tow Law, residents disturbed by a loud ‘bang’. A neighbour’s car had been shunted/damaged by a hit and run driver none of us saw.
While I was unable to assist a police officer with my CCTV cameras (which were out of range), I now recall a local police community support officer’s worrying late 2015 admission.
He stated that the dome camera on the corner of Bridge Street/ High Street (and others) was inoperable.
That is not what ‘serving the community’ means. It’s also time Durham County Council did more than just re-set a certain vehicle-toppled, metal bollard for the umpteenth time.
Speed restrictions and sleeping policemen are urgently needed on this part of the A68, as pedestrians risk life and limb crossing Bridge Street.
