HAVING cut, painted and pasted numerous sea creatures for their entry in the Sedgefield scarecrow competition scheduled for this Saturday my three grandchildren were left feeling somewhat seasick when it was cancelled at short notice by text.
As a doting Granddad I am reluctant to let their efforts go unseen so their “Under the Ocean” tableau will be on display on our front drive in The Meadows, Sedgefield for one day only this Saturday.
It may not be the most professional display ever seen, but it will feature colourful fish never seen by David Attenborough and a mermaid- 36-24-and 60 pence a kilo (an old joke from an even older man).
I must finish now as I have to find prizes for three definite winners aged two, four and seven.
John Nicholls, Sedgefield
