I TOTALLY agree with John Crick’s criticism of Ken Livingstone for his criticism of Kevan Jones because of a difference in outlook on defence (HAS, Nov 21).

I would go on to say that such remarks should not be made by any politician because of the injury they cause to anyone who has suffered from mental illness and those close to them.

The nasty party description was first used by Theresa May at a Conservative conference of the perception at the time of her party and since then she has tried to convey her ideas less harshly.

Sadly, I am afraid many who should know better find it difficult to avoid being nasty.
