At a time when we are shocked by the recent acts of terror perpetrated by humans with a twisted interpretation of Islam, I was amazed and disgusted to hear the comments of Ken Livingstone about our local MP Kevan Jones.

His suggestion that Mr Jones seek psychiatric help for his on-going depression is unbelievable and smacks of a medieval attitude to those unfortunate enough to suffer a disability. These are the kind of opinions we are desperately trying to fight against.

Even more alarming is the fact Mr Livingstone has been appointed to an important position by Jeremy Corbyn.

It shows just what the current Labour leadership really think about the disabled, particularly those with a mental incapacity, and is a slight on all those of us more fortunate who support organisations helping bring a better life to those who suffer.

We definitely don’t want to be governed by terrorists, but I ask, do we want to be governed by those with such obscene attitudes to those like Mr Jones’s, an MP whose beliefs I neither agree or disagree with, who struggle often in silence with conditions beyond their control?
