REGARDING your story about the inadequate size of parking spaces in the Commercial Street car park, Darlington (Echo, May 1).
I recently parked my car there. I am a "blue badge" holder, but as all the "disabled driver" places were full, I had to park in an ordinary space.
When I returned to leave the car park I could not open my driver's side door as a large vehicle on my right side was too close for me to access my driver's seat. My car was within the white lines, as was the other vehicle.
As a result of this, I had to open my passenger side door and climb over the gear lever to reach my driver's seat. This caused me considerable distress.
This is further evidence of Darlington Borough Council's mean decision over the width of parking spaces in order to create more income from this car park.
The council should enlarge the width of these spaces at once, or more problems will occur.
