IN reference to the parking problems at Sports Direct, in Darlington, I would like to suggest that potential customers take their business to Stockton.

Last Wednesday my wife and I decided on Stockton for our weekly run out - something we hadn't done in some time - enticed by the recent town centre upgrade.

On arrival we quickly found a car park. On entering the car park a machine dispensed a plastic disc, which you kept until your return. We had a couple of hours shopping, a walk round the market, which was excellent, and lunch before returning to our car.

Outside the car park were three machines. I popped in my plastic disc, obviously "chipped" into one of the machines which calculated my parking charge - £1 - and gave me the disc back. This was used to exit the car park via the barrier.

About 100 yards from the car park is the rear entrance to Debenhams, where the whole of the top floor is Sports Direct.

So it's probably cheaper, and definitely less hassle, to shop in Stockton.
