I AM a long time supporter/season ticket holder of Darlington FC.

I would like to thank Darlington MP Jenny Chapman for trying to bring some common sense to the issue of the apparent U-turn by the Darlington Rugby Club committee to oppose the agreement previously made between the parties.

Surely there will be an agreement in place which defines the issue of timing of matches, which I understand is the main stumbling block between the parties?

I would imagine that if the agreement has been properly documented, then the football club would have a substantial claim against the rugby club for their costs incurred to date. I am sure from my knowledge that there is no way that the rugby club could afford a claim of this magnitude.

I will be extremely disappointed if the football club has not acted correctly with the negotiations to relocate, as there has been a massive effort among supporters to raise money for the club and also a massive effort from the manager Martin Gray and the team to climb back up the football ladder.

I imagine that there will be many Darlington FC supporters with similar views to mine.
