I HAVE recently moved to Darlington and am amazed to find there is no bus station. This in a town that surely started public transport in 1825.
Because of this lack of a bus station there is no where to get advice or information about bus travel services. Finding details about local travel is hard enough and I still haven't found where I can be advised about National bus travel.
We are being encouraged by the government to use public transport but Darlington does not seem to want to do so. Travellers need toilets and a place to sit whilst waiting and somewhere to have a coffee would not come amiss.
Having had to change buses in Middlesbrough last week the difference was more forcibly brought to mind - they had all that is needed in their bus station.
So come on Darlington, catch up with current needs.
C G Nelson, Darlington.
