DURHAM Cricket club has done exceptionally well to raise the profile of Durham and Chester-le-Street.
The development of the Riverside ground has quite rightly won applause locally and across the world.
So what has happened with the design and detail of the new floodlights? They are ugly, out of kilt and are very much a blight on the landscape.
Why on earth have the designers not given this project the same thought as the rest of the development?
Telescopic lights, similar to Lords Cricket Ground, would have been the answer - appropriate, proportionate and aesthetic to the rest of the development and landscape.
