WITH the introduction of more and more fast food outlets and drive-throughs, the amount of boxes, paper bags, bottles and the like littering our streets and country lanes is reaching unprecedented proportions.
In fairness, not all litter emanates from these outlets and some people rightly take it home, but the majority of it would appear to have been thrown from car windows, especially at night time.
The council litter pickers do a good job, but I fear they are fighting a losing battle, so please take your litter home and make our environment a safer and more picturesque place to be proud of.
Geoff Gregg, Tursdale, County Durham.
