NOW that the champion jump jockey Tony McCoy has decided to retire at the end of the season, how about a knighthood for one of the greatest jockeys ever?

He has been champion jump jockey for the past 20 years and has practically broken every bone in his body, but he picks himself up again and carries on when most jockeys would have given up, such is the determination of the man.

Being a jump jockey is a dangerous profession and he is retiring while he's still at the top and still in one piece. For me, he has been the best jockey in my lifetime, including the great Lester Piggott, and it would be a fitting end to his career for the Queen to give him a knighthood come the end of the season.
