THE recent article written by Labour MEPs Jude Kirton-Darling and Paul Brannen (Echo, Feb 17) just confirmed how out of touch with reality these people are.
Their message is that the EU has brought us peace and stability - well, it hasn’t.
Peace has been bought because we are part of Nato, using muscle supplied by the US.
As for stability, perhaps we should ask the people in Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy how they feel? They are suffering mass unemployment because they are shackled by EU controls.
Then they tell us that we are receiving cash from the EU. Well my understanding is that the UK contributes more than it gets back.
So based on that logic we should pull out and keep our money.
Add to this the EU policy of open borders, which let in every criminal who has a passport, the EU Human Rights fiasco and the unelected EU judges who dictate to our elected MPs.
The EU needs to get back to its original idea, of being a group of trading partners.
Then the European club would be good for us all, we could then get rid of the fat cat bureaucrats - and MEPs sitting in Brussels.
