THERE has been much correspondence of late in HAS on the subject of fly tipping.

Living in Bishop Auckland, I've seen a lot of the results of this odious practice first-hand.

The Dam Head area in Bishop Auckland used to be a bit of a beauty spot, but now I find my head sinking each time I visit, due to the amount of general rubbish, but mainly due to fly tipping.

My last visit revealed, as well as the bags of household waste, a single divan bed, complete with bedding.

My question to the brain-dead idiots who dumped it is this: what extra effort would it have taken to drive to Romanway tip at Tindale and drop it off there?

The answer is none, and you would not have incurred a charge either. The same applies to the bags of household waste.

Think about it, please.

Paul Dobson, Bishop Auckland.
