AS usual I enjoyed Peter Mullen’s column and his views on the CHurch of England hierarchy (Echo, Jan 20).

Clearly, the Church of England no longer qualifies as the Conservative Party at prayer and the Conservative Party itself has, it seems, surrendered the true essence of capitalism to social democratic values.

Though he admits that we are economically in a mess he would have us believe that working class people have never had it so good and the Labour Party should be permanently kept in the shade.

Presumably everyone who wants a job has one and we owe it to the efforts of the financiers in the city who earn every penny they get and still readily pay tax.

The Church of England meanwhile ingratiates itself to the ordinary people I presume to encourage more to of them fill its pews.
