A FEW months ago my wife and I became aware of a new singer constantly being played on the radio and we were struck by the quality of his voice which has a nice rich tone to it.
The single being played was called “Budapest” and we were amazed to hear he was just 21 years old.
His name is George Ezra and after a bit of research I found out more about him.
Apparently, he had been influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie but was particularly impressed by the voice of a certain Huddie William Ledbetter, better known as Lead Belly, who died way back in 1949.
George found singing in a deeper range suited him and stuck to it with increasing success.
Anyway, we bought his album, Wanted on Voyage, which we really enjoyed, considering we are almost four times older than him.
In the past few days we were delighted to see this album has shot to No 1 in the UK album charts and we recommend it to anyone who likes good music.
