IT is good to see Charlotte Bull (HAS, Jan 3) wanting to discuss the funding of Ukip.

I made a quick search on Google and it quickly became apparent that Ukip is indeed reliant on wealthy benefactors like Jon Moulton as I suggested in my letter (HAS, Dec 31).

Between 2001 and 2012, businessman Paul Sykes contributed a staggering £1,460,000, Stuart Wheeler donated £514,957 and in October 2010 Julian Blackwell gave Ukip £175,000. This accounted for 30 per cent of the funding for the right-wing political party in that period.

While I am sure Nigel Farage is delighted by Charlotte's £10 donation, I don't think it will carry as much sway as those people I mention.

These wealthy men share a common philosophy and that is that they believe they should be allowed to carry on their business practices unimpeded by safeguards established to protect working people. These are the values that Ukip hold dear.

They are a political party set up to protect the interests of big business.

The wealthy all favour economics in favour of the few who are rich, already influential and firmly embedded in the establishment.

Ukip offer a mirage of a similar ilk to that offered by Oswald Moseley in the 1930s.
