Listening ONCE again we are reading, both in the main news and through Hear All Sides, of local councillors not listening to the people who put them in power - local residents.

I have just read the letter from S Walton (HAS, Nov 26) regarding planning for houses in Sherburn Village.

We are now hearing regularly of these planning committees going against the wishes of the people and following advice from the developers.

As Mr Walton states these councillors were elected to work and listen to the electorate but this is not happening. These people have held their positions for far too long. Can you remember what they promised to do when first elected?

The same can be said for these so-called consultations - they look good on paper and that's all.

It's about time we had a change if your councillor is going against the wishes of the electorate time and time again. Let's have a clean out of the dead wood and let someone who may follow our wishes to take over.

This is my advice to the people of Sherburn Village and other disillusioned voters.

Let's hope that this is taken up during the next round of local council elections.

If people are not getting value for money they should vote for someone better.
