ON October 18, members of the public met in Richmond School hall to listen to a concert organised by councillor Bob White and Moira, his wife.

It was held in aid of the British Legion.

A packed hall listened to Reeth Brass Band led by Brian Hicks, their bandmaster, Daphne Clarke and her grandson Will reading one of Daphne’s lovely moving poems.

Also taking part were Brompton on Swale ladies choir who were all beautifully dressed and blessed with such lovely voices. They were a pleasure to listen to.

I also must mention Richmond School choir and last, but by no means least, a group of young children from Richmond Methodist School, all taking part for such a worthy cause.

I hope I haven’t missed anyone out but if I have I do apologise.

All of those taking part gave us a lot of pleasure.

The young people from each school must have been tired by the end of the evening but that did not deter them from giving their all.

It was smashing, a really good night. Congratulations must go to Bob and Moira and to each person taking part.
