THE BBC2 period drama Peaky Blinders shown at 9pm on Thursday nights must be one of the best mini series I've watched.

The acting is brilliant, mainly from Irish actor Cillian Murphy, Sam Neil and Helen McCrory who play the three major roles.

But it is the production design and the action, which is really violent, that are the standouts. It may be brutally realistic, but Peaky Blinders is also a thrilling London gangland period piece set in the Roaring Twenties.

Mind you, the language is rather coarse.

Even the background music is great.

I am looking forward to the next few episodes immensely.

Peaky Blinders is one of the best series on the television in my opinion.
