STOCKTON’S Friday market traders are to give up a day’s pay for Children in Need whether they like it or not.
In August 2013, the market traders were controversially relocated to a “dedicated market area” from which they would never – repeat never – be disturbed.
On November 14, 2014, the traders are to be kicked off their space, without compensation, so that a Children in Need set up, including trade stalls, can replace them for the day.
This is an obvious precedent which will eventually destroy the larger Wednesday and Saturday markets at the council’s whim.
