IN response to Victor Connor's assessment of my letter about Cilla Black (HAS, Oct 10), I would like to point out that, according to the Guinness Book of Hit Singles, Cilla Black is one of the most successful British female singers of all time.

She had one of the most impressive recording careers enjoyed by a British female singer and can boast of having two number ones and nine records in the top ten.

You don't sell millions of records if you have a "honking adenoidal whining voice" (as per Mr Connor's letter).

I agree she wasn't as good as Dusty Springfield, who is my favourite female singer of all time, but I think Mr Connor has a problem with Cilla Black - the same as I have with Cliff Richard.

But records and sales and facts don't lie.

So let's agree to disagree Mr Connor, that's what Hear All Sides is about.
