I SPENT part of this week giving verbal and physical support to Husky Petch in his struggle for a fair deal from the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council (Echo, Oct 8).

We have supported him since we first heard of his dilemma. This is a complicated story which he has relayed to the media which deserves to be heard.

Why is it a council feels it needs to persecute a frail old man who is still recovering from a stroke?

What motive is there behind this desire to take back what was, when given to Husky, a dilapidated building which he has fashioned into a stable and usable space for his collection of machinery?

The council had no use for the building 15 years ago, so what’s changed?

He is a man loved and liked by the local community, as demonstrated by the numbers of people coming to offer support and good wishes.

If the council places such onus on community why do they disregard the wishes of this one?

We could ask, where are the local councillors for this ward, and why is the only voice that calls on the council to resolve this issue that of Andrea Turner, the Ukip prospective ward councillor for Dormanstown.

Why have we not seen or heard from the three paid councillors for the ward?

After all, they should be working to resolve issues like this when one of their residents has an issue with the council.
