AFTER so many hiccups with MPs’ expenses the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority(IPSA)was given the job of cleaning up Parliament.
But oh dear, it seems the hiccups have returned.
Usually the best way to solve this ailment is shout “boo!”and the hiccups will quickly disappear.
But in chief executive Marcial Boo it doesn’t seem to be working.
With wages either frozen or capped at one per cent, Mr Boo’s plans to push ahead with an MP wage rise from £67,060 to £74,000 won’t go down too well.
But the £120,000 chief executive, who once attended the plush London School of Economics, says an MP’s wage rise of ten per cent is not an excessive amount. In fact, he calls it derisory.
It must be tough going having to live off a £67,060 salary, get free travel, a nice swanky London pad and more jollies than Judith Chalmers.
