ON October 27, 1928, Adolf Hitler made a speech in which he said: “We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity. Our movement is Christian”.
With all respect Michael Baldasera (HAS, Sept 10) he talks about the “somewhat ironic and inconsistent” comments by C MacArt’s concerning atrocities committed by two of the three main religions.
But in order to stop comparisons being made between atrocities presently committed by Islamic extremists with past atrocities committed by Christians prior to the 20th Century, Christians chose instead to compare them to the atrocities committed by Adolf Hitler.
Yet, actually looking at the speeches or writings (Mein Kamp) of Hitler, it is clear that he was neither an atheist nor a secularist, but a Christian who believed his actions were the will of God.
