READING Tony Kelly’s letter (HAS, Aug 26) I think he was speaking for himself, not for the majority of patriotic British people.

Some of his points you have to agree with, but some take us back into the dark ages.

What he would like to see is stocks in school yards and flogging for petty offences like talking during lessons.

Torture chambers brought back into prisons, castration and sterilisation for working class children of school leaving age. And then there was his attack on “workshy individuals living a life of luxury”.

During my 50 years of working life, I had two years of it and my wife and I lived from hand to mouth, not knowing where the next meal was coming from. That’s life on the dole.
