AFTER being so critical of the English cricket team over the past few weeks I must now eat my words and congratulate them on a remarkable performance beating India so easily.

In fact, they didn’t beat India so much as steamroller them - by three Tests to one.

What a sudden turnaround by a team that looked down and out only a month or so ago.

At last England got their act together and even Captain Alistair Cook, with a little bit of luck, started scoring runs.

The team always plays better when the captain is enjoying a rich vein of form.

The Indians just couldn’t cope with the pace attack of Anderson and Broad or our batting. Let’s hope we keep it up the next time we play the Australians for the Ashes.
