WHAT a tremendous night of Athletics for Great Britain at the European Athletic Championships in Zurich on Wednesday. Three gold, one silver and one bronze medal with Great Britain top of the medals table.
When the winning athletes were interviewed, nearly all of them referred to the fact that they were extremely grateful to the funding they had received from the National Lottery.
My wife and I play the lottery each week (without too much success) but it made me feel part of the athletes’ success knowing that probably some of my money had gone to them.
I can’t finish without mentioning Jo Pavey’s emotional victory on Tuesday.
She won the 10,000m gold medal at the age of 40 years and 325 days and became the oldest female European champion in history. It is never too late to achieve your dream.
