SO COMPANY bosses are going to sleep “rough” at St James’ Park to raise money for homelessness charities (Echo, Aug 14).

How patronising and insulting to the people who are actually homeless and have to live their lives without the luxury of being able to return to the comfort of a nice home and cosy life.

After a jolly photo shoot for the paper, one of the participants said: “I’m sure it will be an experience that stays with me for the rest of my life.”

It would be more unforgettable and relevant if these company bosses actually went and lived and slept with those unfortunate enough to be homeless for a few days.

They might then have a better grasp and understanding of how awful it must be.

It might even raise more money for those in real need.
