AS someone born and bred in Durham City, I looked last week at some of the places I knew as a child. One of them was Flass Well, at the end of Ainsley Street.
What a state it is in, overgrown to such an extent that it could not be found unless you knew of its existence.
As this was once an important source of clean water for the terraces in the area, and it is well built in stone, is it not of some significance to Durham’s history?
Have no local history groups taken an interest in it?
