Retirement

10:15am Wednesday 23rd April 2008

CAN someone inform people who speak on the various media platforms that women who have retired at 60 years of age have not taken early retirement, but have retired at their legal retirement age as stated when they became employed many years ago.

It is greatly unfair that these ladies retire at 60 but still have to pay a higher rate of tax than men who retire at 65, especially as they were paid at lower rates than their male counterparts - a practice which still exists today and makes a lie of the Labour Party's claim to equality for all.
