This is a garnet red wine from Aldi’s fine wine collection. The source of grapes is Veneto one of the 20 states of Italy.
It’s in the North East on the Adriatic coast and has more DOCs than any other region.
This is the 2006 Ripasso where impressed skins from an Amarone are added to a basic Valpolicella, which gives added viscosity and tannins.
Corvina is the chief grape variety in the blend and has made a wine with a dry velvety taste and cherry finish. It’s 13½ per cent alcohol and recommended with game, roasted meats and strong cheeses. Priced at £4.99 at Aldi.
