Lovely start to the day...
I was met in the car park by one of our promotions ladies who came over to say she was sorry to hear I was stepping down as editor.
It was very kind of her. She said it was a shame but she wished me well in the future. Then she added: "You're so right to recognise it. It's only when you see the picture of you when you started, and the picture of you now, that you realise how much of a toll it's taken."
In other words: "You haven't half gone downhill."
