THERE'S no escape, even when you're on holiday.

Wherever I went during my week off, I was stopped on the street, emailed and tweeted about The Northern Echo's sports page report on Darlington striker Graeme Armstrong's recovery from major surgery.

Following a collision with a goalie, Armstrong had undergone an operation to have half of his pancreas removed. Except the Echo reported that he'd had half of his placenta removed. Club doctor Steve Charlton was even moved to contact Armstrong to congratulate him on making medical history.

Apologies all round. I can confirm that the Darlington FC reporter's application for the vacant Health Editor's post has been rejected.
