KNOG BLINDER MOB FRONT AND REAR RECHARGEABLE LIGHTS

THE wonderfully named Knog Blinders are light in every sense of the word.

Weighing in at just 37 grammes each, these Aussie designed lights look cool, are incredibly portable and pack a real punch.

Initially, I wasn’t sure just how effective my Kid Grid versions would be, given the more substantial nature of other lights in my collection.

But you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover or a light by its size.

Minimalist, there are very few parts to the Knog lights, meaning less things to lose.

Fitting them to your bike is easy.

The lights I tested were suitable for both standard and aero seat posts.

The attachments are an improvement on previous incarnations that came in for some criticism from riders. You get three interchangeable straps that are secured by a simple buckle mechanism.

Once on there is very little chance of them coming off. I put them to the test over some very challenging countryside surfaces and they never budged.

The lights themselves incorporate a built in USB charger, so no need for extra cables. Once plugged in they are fully charged within around five hours and are capable of lasting for 60 hours if used on the eco setting. Other settings offer between three and eight hours of longevity.

Operating the light is easy, there’s a single button on the top. Depress it firmly and it switches on or off – a shorter push will switch it between the five available modes.

The lights use a stack of LEDs combined with a reflective background to illuminate the road.

The front light puts out 80 lumens, has a 90 degree arc and an impressive 1,200m beam, while the rear puts out 44 lumens.

In addition to all this, the lights are both waterproof and dustproof. I used them in the pouring rain and experienced no problems while out or in charging later.

Selling for between £30 and £40 each in the UK, I would argue that not only are you getting great technology, but you are getting great value for money with the Knog lights.
