AN ANNUAL charity cycle ride has raised £11,610 to 38 community causes throughout the Yorkshire Dales.

The 29th North Riding Dales Licensed Victuallers bike ride saw 150 people take to two wheels last summer visiting pubs and breweries between Hawes and Leyburn, and in the previous 28 years the group has raised £309,000 for charity and community projects throughout North Yorkshire.

Secretary of the North Riding Dales LVA Angus McCarthy said: “A big thank you to the people of the dales who at this difficult time have continue to support our bike ride and the 150 riders who took part."

Cash awards included £900 The Central Dales Practice; £450 each to Leyburn Medical Practice, Reeth Surgery, Herriot Hospice Homecare, Great North Air Ambulance, Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, Swaledale & Arkengarthdale Luncheon Club, Friarage Hospital MRI appeal, Kirkwood Hall, Sycamore Hall amenity fund and Friends of Richmond Friary Hospital.

Awards of £230 went to Young Voices, Thornton Rust Institute, Yorebridge Sports & Fitness, Wensleydale School,Harmby Under5s,East Witton Under5s,West Witton Playing Fields, Northallerton ME Support, Wensleydale Rotary, Leyburn Ladies Choir, Hawes & District Gala, Upper Wensleydale Fireworks, Dales Play, Middleham School, both BAWB Schools and Nursery, Swaledale Scouts, Gayle Play Park, Gayle Institute, Hawes Primary School and foundation stage, Hawes Amateur Operatic Society, Hawes Brownies, Upper Wensleydale Guides, Blue Box Productions, Hawes in Bloom, Hawes Christmas lights.
