CHILDREN never fail to make me laugh...
I had a great time at Markse Primary School this morning, giving a reading on the big screen of my new children's book, Chilly Billy Winters.
Before I started, headteacher John Dooris did an assembly with the theme of kindness and tolerance. He showed a picture of Mahatma Gandhi and asked: "Does anyone know who this is?"
A little boy's hand shot up: "Is it Peter Barron?" he asked.
Later in the morning, I was reading the story, which sees Chilly Billy Winters having a monstrous adventure because he refuses to wrap up warm.
It ends up with zombie snowmen taking him away to the castle of the evil Jack Frost, where he gets locked in the freezing high tower.
"Where do you think they're going to take him to teach him a lesson he'll never forget?" I asked the children, sitting en masse on the hall floor.
"Morrisons?" shouted a little boy.
