Durham Remembers - a special edition of The Northern Echo, honouring the members of the Durham Light Infantry who died at the Somme 100 years ago
THE Northern Echo of Friday, July 1, 2016, will be "wrapped" in a tribute to the members of the Durham Light Infantry who lost their lives on July 1, 1916, in the Battle of the Somme.
Inside will be a commemorative 8-page pull-out. The edition is the result of a partnership with Durham CCC, the DLI Trustees, Durham University, and Durham Cathedral.
The aim is to raise money to establish two memorials to the DLI at the site of the battle in France and one in Durham City.
It has been an honour to be involved in producing this edition and seldom have I found the content of a publication so moving.
