HOSPITALS are apparently making a fortune out of parking charges. I have no problem with that – if only they used the money to create more parking spaces.

Most people arriving at a hospital, whether for an appointment or to visit, are already in a mild state of stress.

The last thing they need is to spend ages driving round desperately seeking a space.

And that’s without the idiotic behaviour of other drivers.

Especially those driving big black Jeeps on Monday morning. You know who you are.

Trying to get to Darlington Memorial Hospital, I ended up parking in the street about half way to Bishop. I’d allowed for the time needed and it was easy for me to walk, but what of those who can’t?

If hospitals had more parking spaces, what’s the betting they’d also find their patients’ blood pressure had also magically lowered? Which probably makes more parking spaces good medicine.
