FIRMLY challenging the notion that playing games turns you into a fat balding nerd, Wii Fit promises to help you build your fitness levels as you have fun - brilliant!

It comes with the Wii Balance Board (hence, the steep asking price) which is a pressure-sensitive, wireless board that you balance on and shift your weight to control what's happening on screen. There are 40 different techniques ranging from yoga, to aerobics, games and muscle building.

Don't go thinking this is for kids, either.

Some of the workouts are really tough and you'll be hot and sweaty by the end of play.

The games are the usual mini-challenges such as heading a virtual football or ski jumping - the addictive thing is trying to beat your personal best.

In the same way the Brain Training software calculates your mental age so Wii Fit comes up with a fitness age depending on how truthful you are about your weight and age. The board can act as a set of scales and calculates your body mass index for accurate results.

It's a tremendous way to get fit while you enjoy yourself away from the intimidating atmosphere of a real-life gym.
