Moving scenes in Bishop Auckland today as the town turned out in force to give Corporal Lee Brownson a send-off fit for a hero.
Cpl Brownson was killed while serving with The Rifles in Afghanistan.
Our Bishop Auckland chief reporter Bessie Robinson told me that main streets were packed with hundreds of people, from small children to OAPs.
Our front page tomorrow will be devoted to Cpl Brownson's funeral, with the attached picture and the headline: "United in grief."
I hope the tremendous show of respect in Bishop Auckland will be a comfort to Cpl Brownson's family.
