Morning Readers! How are we all on this freezing cold day that's thick with fog? It looks so miserable outside that I don't feel like going out. It's so slippery underfoot too. I braved the elements this week and went to weigh in. I'm still not well with my chest and to be honest was expecting a gain. I was so pleased to find I'd actually lost 3.5lb. To say I was dumbstruck would be an understatement. I'm still not eating properly and still on the antibiotics and steroids. Hopefully, I'll be starting to feel better soon.

We talked in group this week about two different characters that tend to appear around Christmas time. The first is "Stick to it Sally" The second is " Let Loose Lucy". We had to think about what character we would be over Christmas. Would we be Lucy or Sally? I've decided I'm going to try and be Sally. I stuck to my eating plan last year and managed to lose and I would love to do the same this year. Some of the groups members said they were going to be Lucy. They were going to enjoy Christmas, and become Sally in January.

When you think about it, there's nothing wrong in becoming Lucy, so long as you can get back on track when January comes around. You're healthy eating plan should fit in with your lifestyle and compliment it. We do need times when we let our hair down and enjoy family celebrations. It's all about keeping that control and knowing when to get back on track. Will you be Sally or Lucy this Christmas?

Home Made Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 454g/1lb fresh Cranberries
  • Artificial sweetener, to taste
  • Grated zest of 1 orange

Method:

1) Put the cranberries in a small saucepan with 142ml/¼pt cold water. Bring to the boil

2) Reduce the heat and simmer gently for about 10 minutes. The cranberries will pop and open, and the sauce will become thick and pulpy. Sweeten with artificial sweetener and stir in the orange zest.

3) Cool and then pour into a clean jar or airtight container. Cover and store in the refrigerator.

You don't have to go without this Christmas. Last year I had all the trimmings and still managed to lose weight. Do you plan to lose this year?

I'll have more tips for surviving Christmas in my next blog.

See you lighter next week, Love Wendy
