"What's with people who use ellipses... throughout... their e-mails?
Either they're high and can't complete a thought, or they're under the mistaken impression that it's a legitimate use of punctuation. Ellipses signify a break in a quotation, or perhaps a trailing thought for dramatic or comedic impact. Using them after, or in the middle, of a bunch of sentences is bewildering to read and signifies that the sender is either an ignoramus or is sniffing glue."
I saw the above paragraph on a site yesterday and was impressed......not. Someone sent it to me today and I decided to wax lyrical on the topic. First of all, ahem, I don't normally use them in emails. I DO use them when I write and today, I am sadly not high, not sniffing anything except curry, and I honestly believe that I am NOT an ignoramus.
I think people who make comments like the aforementioned one, have a lot of nerve and must be a lot like my mother. She thought she knew everything and she was always right. Isn't a Blog supposed to be what one thinks? I've had this problem before, where people seem to think I write this for someone else's amusement. Not the case, and I have no control over who reads the thing. This page is mainly THERAPY for moi and I honestly don't care if no one reads it. So there.
Notice, I have NOT used any of these..() in this epistle? I was sorely tempted but opted to behave myself and not irritate the masses.
