Merry Christmas

I would like to wish all readers of the Northern Echo and the wider community a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year from all at County Durham Community Foundation.

I really hope that next year the picture will be brighter and community projects survive the effects of the recession and manage to eek out their Reserves long enough to help them survive.

We will have some new initiatives to launch in the New Year that should help charities in County Durham and Darlington to become more sustainable, including supporting them with social marketing techniques and fundraising strategy. We will be publishing more news about that early in 2012.

In the meantime, please think about those who are less well off this Christmas and the cold winter months ahead and consider donating to our Surviving Winter campaign or another good cause.
