I was watching an article on the news last night regarding Freshers' Week and how Universities in the North East are trying to combat high alcohol intake by new students.

This is becoming an increasingly difficult problem, as young people experience their first taste of freedom, away from home with no parental constraints.

Alcohol is such a big problem now, with more and more young people becoming alcoholics and suffering liver failure before the age of 30. It isn't limited to 'Freshers' of course, as more and more young people seem to think that the only way they can enjoy themselves is to be 'wide-eyed and legless'.

Let's hope that some of the diversionary activities the Universities are organising will pay off and keep them out of the bars and we have no tragic consequences of binge drinking.
