Great news : we have been awarded £400,000 by the Department of Heath to refurbish a currently under utilised wing at Bishop Auckland Hospice - just as we celebrate our 15th Anniversary.
The Hospice which now cares for some 650 patients a year serves the largely rural and dispersed populations in central County Durham with additional outreach services in Sedgefield, Stanhope and Barnard Castle as well as supporting patients in their own homes. Having experienced considerable and sustained growth in recent years, this funding will enable the development of additional accommodation and patient facilities of the highest quality at the hopsice's site in Woodhouse Lane. The Charity, which freely provides all of its services, spends over £750,000 a year on patient care for adults in County Durham.
