Great North Run : Last chance of a guaranteed place
It seems that every year things come around even faster – I can’t believe that the Great North Run is nearly upon us already!
The premier Northern half-marathon takes place on September 15th this year, starting against the glorious backdrop of the iconic Tyne Bridge. One fact that is quite amazing is that the Great North run has 55,000 runners – the London Marathon only has 37,000, showing that it really is the premier UK running event, right here in our region.
Last year, in fact, my wife was one of those 55,000 runners and I had the privilege of watching her and all the other successful participants complete the course, whist I was serving up some well-deserved refreshments to the thirsty competitors.
Each and every year hundreds of people run the course in aid of their favourite charity and we at Butterwick are very lucky to have enthusiastic supporters who raise much needed funds for us by being sponsored to take part in this prestigious event. Our hospices offer care, free of charge, to adults and children and we really do appreciate every penny that our supporters raise for us – especially by completing such a grueling challenge as a half marathon….
We still have a few places available for the run, so if you’d like to run for Butterwick we’d love to hear from you – entries close on Monday 29th of July, so you’ll need to be quick if you want to secure your place on the 2013 starting line. To join our team simply register on our Web Site , or call our events team on 01642 628930 to book your place. We’ll send you all the sponsorship forms you’ll need and answer any other questions you may have.
So, what are you waiting for? Join Team Butterwick for the 2013 Great North Run and experience the amazing atmosphere all for yourself, whilst raising vital funds for your local adult and children’s hospices.
Many thanks for your continued support.
